Making The Most Of Your Australian Holiday Tour

Getting an Australian travel visa and heading to the country for a vacation is a good way to spend the holiday seasons. And Australia does have plenty of things for vacationers who go there. Here are some of the sights that you must see during your holiday tour.

For the first leg of your holiday journey, it would be a good idea to drop by the city of Sydney. Here, you will find many interesting sights to see. The Sydney Opera House and the Harbour bridge are perennial favorites for tourists. For a little adrenalin rush, you can also try the Bridge Climb where you get a spectacular view of the city from atop the Harbor Bridge.

And since shopping will be one of your main activities, you are definitely on the right place. Sydney has plenty of stores that cater to a wide variety of customers, from high end shops to stores that has everything for the budget conscious tourist. You might also want to stay in the city until the 26th of December as it is Boxing Day, which also considered as Shopping Day by many Australians. During this public holiday, many stores around Australia offer sales with huge discounts.

And since it is summer during the Christmas season in Australia, exploring the country's outdoor landmarks is one great idea. Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock) in the Northern Territory is very famous and is visited by millions of tourists yearly. One interesting thing about this gigantic rock formation is that it changes its apparent color throught the day, so this one will surely be a spectacular sight. Near Uluru is the so called Devil's Marbles, a collection of large granite boulders that have been shaped by natural forces.

Down south, you might also want to head to New South Wales, where there is also plenty to see. One interesting place to visit here is Mungo National Park. The park's main attraction is its landscape, which will make any visitor feel like they are on another planet. Another interesting thing to look for in Mungo are the numerous archaeological sites in the area.

Queensland is another good destination for Christmas vacationers. The beaches are in fact packed during this time of the year (unthinkable for many westerners who are used to a winter Christmas). And since we are talking of water here, what better way to spend Christmas Day than to explore the underwater wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.

And as a side trip while on the road to your holiday destinations, you might also want to be on the lookout for Australia's Big Things. These are a collection of large scale sculptures scattered all over the country. They range from mundane objects to those that depict the country's own brand of humor. You will definitely have a great time hunting for them while on your way.
