Discovering Queensland
One of the places that many Australian tourist visa holders would want to visit is the state of Queensland. And since summer is now fast approaching, this one is definitely a good choice for your vacation. You see, there are a lot of activities, both indoors and outdoors, that you can try out in Queensland, and which will make your vacation even more interesting.
One of the things that will definitely make you want to visit the Sunshine State is its climate. The state enjoys a year round tropical climate with not much rainfall. Hence, the state is definitely nicknamed Sunshine State for something. And the abundance of sunshine also makes Queensland an ideal place for so many activities.
So where do you start? Well, you can begin right in the state capital of Brisbane. The city actually has a multitude of both man made and natural wonders to visit. One of the places that you would definitely want to head to is the South Bank Parklands. One of the more interesting features of the Parklands is the street beach, which sprawls the entire area. In fact, it is considered to to be the only beach located right in the center of a city. Many tourists actually swim here daily.
And if you want to get a breathtaking view of Brisbane, then you can head out to Mount Coot-tha. This suburb located west of the central business district has a lookout point which give you a panoramic view of the city and the outlying areas. And while you're here, you might also want to visit the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium and the Japanese Garden.
Outside of the city, there are still so much that you will be able to see. One of the most traveled to spots is Mount Tamborine in the south eastern section of the country. No, you won't see people playing tamborines, but there are still a lot things that you can catch here. While you are here, you would surely want to see the Glow-Worm Caves. These man made caves house thousands of glow worms which shine in the dark (hence the name), and which makes for a rather magical experience.
On the other hand, Cape Tribulation, to the north off the city of Cairns, offers an interesting way to see the forests in the area. Here, you will be able to zip down through the dense forest trees and get a close look at the many creatures that inhabit them. This one will certainly be an entertaining, if not educational, activity for you to do.
And no discovery tour of Queensland will be complete without exploring the Great Barrier Reef. The state is, in fact, considered as the best place to start if you want to venture to the reef. The Gold Coast is definitely the place you would want to go if you want to have a great diving experience.
