Queensland, The Eternal Sunshine State

When going on an immigration, Australia is one of the most common choices that many people make when deciding on the place they want to move into. And Queensland is perhaps one of the most popular choices within the country where many would want to finally settle in. So, what is it really like living in Queensland?

To better answer this question, it would be a good idea to first look into the state's history. Much like the rest of the continent, Queensland has been inhabited for more that 40,000 years. The first people that arrived here were the Aboriginals who trace their origins from Asia. Being the one nearest to the oceans, the area that is now present day Queensland was naturally the one that the new arrivals settled in.

On the other hand, Queensland was also one of the first Australian land that Europeans have extensively explored. The earliest travels along the coast of the state was done by the Dutch navigator Jansz, who traveled the site of the present day town of Weipa. However, it was British explorer Captain James Cook who did the most extensive tour of Queensland and paved the way for more exploration by other navigators.

During the colonization period in the 19th century, Queensland was actually a part of New South Wales. It was in 1859 when Queen Victoria (for whom the state was named ) released an order masking it a separate colony. On the other hand, the gold rushes of the late 1800's was one of the things that further led to the state's development.

Here, one of the factors that had attracted so many people to the state is its climate. Queensland is often endearingly referred to as the Sunshine State, and once you arrive here, you will know for sure why. You see, since the state is located the equator, it has a mild tropical climate. Also, rainfall is very minimal, so you actually enjoy almost 365 days of bright sunshine.

Aside from the climate, another reason why many, and you yourself included, would want to move to Queensland is the many interesting landmarks that you can visit. One such place is the South Bank Parklands in the state capital of Brisbane. What makes this unique? Well, how does it being the only beach right smack in the center of a city sound?

Another landmark that you would definitely want to see in Queensland is a rather large one. In fact the Great Barrier reef is so large that you can actually see it all the way from space. And Queensland is definitely the right location for you to explore the reef.
